YouTube announced the German launch of its Shopping affiliate program in September. Eligible creators can find available products in YouTube Studio and attach product tags to their content. An October update to the announcement named AliExpress and Amazon as additions to the retailer network.

A product tag gives a viewer a path from a demo to a retailer. For brands testing the German market, a tag is most useful when it matches the exact item shown and takes the viewer to a listing that can fulfil the order.

Why it matters

Before recording a product comparison, check each model and variant against the available tags. Then test the viewer’s path on mobile and keep affiliate disclosure clear in the finished content.
